At Big Top Chautauqua and across the Ashwabay Alliance, volunteers are more than helping hands — they’re part of the heart and soul of our community. From welcoming concertgoers under the blue canvas tent to supporting events, outdoor programs, and year-round community experiences, volunteers help keep the music playing and the Northwoods spirit thriving. Whether you’re passionate about the arts, outdoor recreation, local history, or simply meeting great people, there’s a place for you here.
Volunteering is a chance to share your time, laugh with neighbors, make lifelong memories, and help preserve the cultural and outdoor traditions that make the South Shore such a special place to call home. No matter your experience level, we believe community is built one smiling face, one helping hand, and one unforgettable evening at a time.

Anyone planning to volunteer for any shows at Big Top Chautauqua this summer must attend at least one of these in-person training sessions. During these sessions, we will be outlining volunteer expectations, reviewing the different volunteer positions, introducing SignUpGenius and how to sign up to volunteer, and sharing out emergency plans.
All training sessions will take place at The Backstage, located in the same building as our Box Office at 84810 HWY 13, Bayfield, WI. Please reach out to Alaina at [email protected] to indicate which training you plan to attend or to make other arrangements."
